The University of Jember’s Nursing Study Program Conducted MPKP Training at RSD Balung

Team of Nursing Foundations and Basic Nursing (DKKD) Department Nursing Science Study Program (PSIK) University of Jember conducted training on Professional Nursing Practice Model for beginners. 45 nurses of RSD Balung as the participants attended the training held at the hall of RSD Balung. The training was held for 5 days, starting from 17 to 21 March.
Ns. Roymond H Simamora., M.Kep, Ns. Anisah Ardiana., M.Kep. Ns. Nurfika Asmaninggrum. M.Kep., Ns. Retno Purwandari. M.Kep., and Ns. Dody Wijaya M.Kep were present as the guest speakers. The guest speakers delivering the material were from DKKD team of PSIK, University of Jember.
Ns. Roymond H Simamora. M.Kep. explained that the success of health service depends on the quality and ability of the professional health workers in accordance with their expertise and skill. He said that nurses should be able to handle patient properly, quickly and accurately according to the procedure. Therefore, health workers need training and guidance.
“This training is highly essential in order that each nurse becomes more professional. I mean, they are able to provide not only physical treatment but also the whole nursing care dealing with all aspects of patient’s nursing care” said Raymond.
Roymond explained that the nursing service management, which is the subsystem of hospital management, must obtain the same attention and place as the other managements. It is in order that the hospital can work as expected.
Roymond further explained that the scope of operational management and nursing care management in planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and providing health care needs attention. “Human Resource management needs to gain a serious attention, so that patients can get primary services,” said Roymond.
According to him, one of the MPKP (Profesional Nursing Practice Model) is the model developed by Dr. Ratna Sitorus. The MPKP is a system (structure, process, and professional value) allowing professional nurses to arrange nursing care including the environment to support the nursing delivery. MPKP was implemented for the first time in 1996 at RSUPN Cipto Mangunkusumo Jakarta and until today, it has been implemented at other several hospitals. (Mj/Aj)
