Jember, 25 Maret 2014

The rise of “unhealthy” private universities is a national education issue during the week. The media attention is increasingly high in line with the conduct of a series of educational events from high school National Exam to a variety of student admission selection.

The university education considers the problem of education cannot be solved partially but must be managed with all elements. In response to the issue, University Jember conducted a workshop with the theme “Institutional Capacity Building and Quality Assurance System of Nahdatul Ulama Higher Education. The workshop invited Directorate General of Development and Productivity of Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration Ir. Khairul Anwar who gave the keynote speaker.

Rector of University of Jember Drs. Moh. Hasan M.Sc. Ph.D. in his welcome speech said that there should be tight relationship between colleges in order to get useful feedback, criticism and suggestion in the development of each institution. “By the workshop and at the same time as a silaturahmi (interwoven relationship) moment like this, we will be able to work together to find a way out of the problems faced by each institution” Rector said.

According to Drs. Moh. Hasan M.Sc., Ph.D., who currently also serves as Chairman of NU Institute of Higher Education (LPTNU), any university, either public or private, has the potential to be an unhealthy  college. Therefore, he said, it needs early anticipation. “We have to synergize in solving any problems encountered, so that our universities do not become unhealthy colleges,” he added.
